I been there for two years. It has been a rought two years. I Have had a problem with attendence. And with the New attendence policy its unfair to employee because nothing is approve with the company anymore. They just don't care about you nor any of your family. It don't allow you to even have your sick time. And to call out you have to call a 1-800 associte hotline and then talk to your manager. Anyway every time I been out its due to medical or for my Child being sick. Right now in the pass week I had to take off 4 days bc of my illness and whatever I had my 5 month old daughter caught which isn't at all good. She tested positive with a virus called RSV and it could be deadly to her. So I have to take another week off from work to care for her. I have a doctors note for the time I was out and I now have a note for the time I am going to be out to care for my child. I called the 1-800 Associte hotline to call out and talk to my Supervisor and She told me I was fired due to attendance

you didn't mention what state you live in, but most have a policy where an employer can fire you for whatever reason. what i would do is call one of those free lawyer hotlines or your town municipal court and explain the situation to them to see what the policy is in your state.

but, trust me, this is the best thing that could have ever happened to you. walmart is notorious for hiring mostly part-time/firing employees to ensure a good turn-over. they are a greedy anti-union company that has been proven many a time to try to make a profit using its own employees health benefits. especially 1 disturbing case where they had taken out life insurance policies on their employees and made walmart the beneficiary! the insurance program at walmart is a fraud and intended to discriminate against whole groups of people & take advantage of the public welfare/medicaid so they don't have to provide those services. a walmart worker could end up paying about 45% of their salary before seeing a single benefit. everyone rightfully got on walmart's case after it was statistically shown that their health insurance package managed to effect medicaid and health insurance for THE ENTIRE COUNTRY because of all the people who work there who received welfare, food stamps and public health care.

Unless I'm mistaken, there is a law against firing someone for being ill, or taking off work to care for a sick child or other relative, and confirming it with a doctor's statement. It's called the Family Sick Leave Act. I would definitely seek legal counsel, and if you can't afford an attorney, go to your Legal Aid Society. They either offer their services free of charge to those who can't pay, or work on a sliding scale for people with limited finances. Good luck! This is not the first complaint I've heard about some of Wal-Mart's practices.

Do yourself a favor and get a better job. I no longer shop at Walmart for various reasons - they have been sued so many times it's not funny and for endless reasons - they charge cheap prices because they have slave labor in other countries and their employess get no benefits and become a burden on tax-payers when they have to get Medicaid because big, rich Walmart is to cheap they don't pay enough for people to buy their own insurance.

Sue the bastard$ ASAP.

Good luck.

Unfair does not equate into illegal. In an 'at will" environment an employer may terminate anyone for any reason long as it violates no law (ie age, race, gender etc) Nothing you have described meets that criteria. However for legal answers go to website below and post your same question

if you had dr notes and can prove that you called them to let them know the situation then you may be able to contest this. there is a federal plan for families it is intended to give workers days off if they or a dependent becomes ill. you do have to plan this and file to have time off. if you want to contest this then you need to get a lawyer and talk about what rights you have and see if you have a case. i believe this plan is only for full time employees so if you were you may have a case.

Your employer can fire you for any reason, but if you think you are being discriminated against you can file a complaint with the federal labor dept.

You should have filed for FMLA ..then they couldn't do much about it. It's too late now...you are just out of luck.
