Ok, well i am 15 and some of my friends and i wanted to do something for the wheeling village senior center. Like make Christmas cards or something like that. Do you think that the Senior Center would let us do something like that. And what else could we do for the community.

and yes we would give them out and just chat with them for a while or so.

David that's wonderful! Are you up to delivering them in person with a bit of caroling or visiting? Maybe bring some goodies?

Call the center first and ask, they may have some type of restrictions, but I know they'll be so happy to hear from you!

It's good to know there are folks like you out there! GOOD FOR YOU AND YOUR FRIENDS!

Before proceeding on your Christmas community project, check with the Wheeling Village Sen. Ctre first. They may have some really cool ideas for you. Off the top of my head I would say that there are many many single (and lonely) Seniors who are home bound and would enjoy an hours company on Christmas. But that is of course, your decision.
I think you are a wonderful young man for taking on this enterprise and I know the senior residents will enjoy whatever you choose to do for them.

David,
What a kind and caring gesture. Contact the Facility to be sure that they allow your Christmas Cheer. The staff may have some specific needs and could give you some ideas. Carolling is always a big hit for the Seniors. Cards are a great idea also.

That sounds like a wonderful thing to do! You could also call the center and ask if they could use your help at their Christmas party for the folks there or if they need help with some of their crafts and activities the seniors are doing for Christmas. I help out with things like that at the nursing home I visit.
Bless you all for your kindness and for thinking of others!
Merry Christmas!

I definately think they would let you. Most places are open for community members (especially younger ones) to come and give somethingto senior citizens who may otherwise be alone at Christmas. As far as the rest of the community is concerned, if you have a soup kitchen, you could volunteer there for a night to help make and serve food, and you could help out with fundraisers for charity...anything like that. The smallest deed could do a lot for somebody!

I think the Senior Center would be delighted..you could go caroling @ retirement homes and hospitals..some seniors in the retirement hospitals never get outside visitors..you would make them very happy..Someone in your neighborhood might need help @ the grocery store, or shopping, shoveling snow if your part of the country has snow, mine has lawns to mow all winter..Merry Christmas to you and your friends, you are very thoughtful..

Talk to the people there and see about organizing a carol singalong for them - right after dinner - seniors love to have young people come in and visit. Many have grandchildren they dont see - and many dont have them at all -

IF you want to keep it up after xmas see about adopting a grandparent - all you have to do is go visit once in awhile and listen to their stories, and I promise you WILL learn a lot - about people, about life, and about yourself -

I dont know where you live but you know even getting a bunch of kids together and making snowmen on the lawn where the seniors can look out and watch - my mother used to love to sit in the window and watch my kids building snowmen and having fun in the snow -- then let the seniors judge which is the best one - and y'all join them for some cookies and some singing afterwards

God bless you, you are a good kid

That is very impressive that you are the age you are and want to help others. The House Church I go to goes to a Rest Home once a mo. and we speak to some of the residents. One family made cookies and they brought them to the residents. I would suggest you go or call the Activities Director and ask what he or she would suggest you can do for them. there's some people that have no one to visit on Christmas and other holidays, so you and others going there would really cheer them up. God Bless you..

I work at a nursing home and our residents love it when younger people come to visit. Some of the teens in our area come caroling and hand out candy canes to all f the ones that are allowed to have them. Makes the ladies and gentlemen very happy. You should be so proud of yourselves for wanting to do this.

How wonderful!!! I think that you have some good advice from the previous posts. As for the community... if you live in an area where it snows, perhaps you could do some snow removal for those who are older. What kind hearts you all have!
