They took the Cowboys apart and today just dismantled the #1 defense, hardly overrated.

Well, your question has two meanings here. You are obviously stating that you don't think the Patriots are great and you are also going to get about a half dozen or more people, who are Patriot homers, coming on here to crow about their team.
In my honest unbiased opinion, while I agree that ESPN has a New England sports team bias, the Patriots have deserved the praise they are getting. It is not easy to go 13-0 and they have done so by totally blowing out the opponent by more than two touchdowns in every game except the last two. The problem with making an argument for any other team is that of the other "good" teams that you could argue for, the Patriots have beaten them. All of the playoff bound teams or nearly playoff bound teams they've played, Dallas, Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, Buffalo, Cleveland, or Washington, New England has decisively beaten. The only teams that are close to these teams, Jacksonville, Green Bay, NY Giants, and San Diego, have all also lost to the teams that New England decisively beat. So in my unbiased assessment, the Patriots are the best team in the NFL right now.
Now, having said that, I do not believe that the Patriots are going to win the Super Bowl. Why you ask? Because the AFC playoffs are going to present the Patriots with tougher challenges each week and some teams, such as Indianapolis, should have injured stars returning. IMHO if Indy had a healthy Dwight Freeney and Marvin Harrison, they would be undefeated. The fact that they have only lost two games is more miraculous to me. The greatest team I have ever seen play in my lifetime was the 1998 Minnesota Vikings that were killing every team they played, but they didn't make it to the Super Bowl.
The Patriots, while trying to cement their place in history, have done a lot of stupid things. The main thing, playing their starters longer than necessary. A high school coach knows that if it is the 4th quarter and you are up by 3 touchdowns, you pull your starters. You do it to give your 2nd and 3rd stringers game experience and also so you don't risk your starters getting injured. What is going to happen if Brady or Moss get hurt? You take one of them away and New England is a 3, 4 or 5 loss team. Take them both out and they are a 9-7 team. IF and thats a big IF, either one gets injured or both, New England is done. They've been lucky to not have either injured in this season of big player injuries and you have to think their luck will run out.
Finally, just because a team is undefeated, doesn't mean they are the best. I'd put the 15-1 Chicago Bears over the 72 Dolphins any day of the week. However, to answer your question, the Patriots are not over rated at this point.

The Patriots are a good team, but people thinking they are among the best is overrating them. The Colts had them pretty well contained until the second half of the 4th quarter when Bob Sanders was playing injured, the Ravens almost (and arguably did) beat them, and two of their touchdowns against the Steelers came on blown coverage without Troy Pulamalu at Safety.
The Patriots are certainly a top-tier team this year, and it will be a close game in the playoffs to see if they or a healthy Colts team plays in the Super Bowl, but the Patriots have had one of the easiest schedules in the NFL this year and most (if not all) the good teams they have faced had key players injured.

Do you think a team that is 13-0 and can be overrated? The Answer is No. If let's say The Colts were 13-0 and the Patriots were 12-1 all the talk would be on the Colts. Also you have to remember ESPN is located in Bristol, Connecticut... so It's like New England Central... Right in between being a Giants and Patriots Fan... If you haven't noticed there also obsessed with Red Sox and Yankees Games...
Patriots fan or NOT you must admit this is the best team you have seen possibly EVER. They deserve to get the attention!

Not in the Salary Cap era. They are clearly the most dominate team since it began. However, versus all the past champions, yes they are overrated.
The '78 Steelers had 9 HOF in their prime on that team. '92/'93 Cowboys has a great offense and defense and in many positions are better than than the '07 Patriots. '89 49ers and '85 Bears also stack up well against the Pats.

What other stat matters at this point in the season?
They've beaten 5 of the next 10 ranked teams in the league this year. (They haven't played the other 5) What more do they have to do to not be considered overrated? They DESTROYED Dallas. They beat the Colts, they lambasted the Steelers. They killed the Browns. How can you call them overrated? Dallas almost gave a game to Detroit today. They're lucky that the Lions realized that they are the lions in the 4th quarter.

I think 13-0 is better than 12-1. Especially when that 1 lose is courtesy of the Patriots.
Additionally, the Pats beat Indy, the Steelers and Dallas! How can you argue with results like that.

OMG YES! The patriots are not unbeatable! They have a weakness. as long as you play with top aggression and hit them hard at them line you can crack em. Last year the pats were caught for cheating. My guess is that most likely they still know a bit about other teams defense. For 1 tom Brady is over rated himself. He stat pads more than anyone i have ever seen! No QB throws 45 times and only runs 6. When your within 2 yards of the goal you don't throw it. At least not every time. Also what kind of a team keeps their starters in(including tom QB) half way through the 4th when they are up by 50 points! The pat vs colts was not legit. If the colts were healthy they would have beat them for sure. For gosh sake they almost lost to the ravens(in my opinion they did! they were stopped on 4th 3 times at the end). Another thing, watch the pats when they cover a deep pass. they will on purpose push the receiver so they don't score and then goal line stand!
bottom line.... stat padders
score runners
cheaters
OVERRATED!!

Yes the pats are overrated. They keeping forgetting the 1970 Dolphins who also went undefeated. So as you can see the Pats are not the only ones that have done this. I blame the media for all this hoopla. As I keeping bringing up to everyones attention it not over until the Superbowl is won. Who is going? Who knows till we get there. It just might be two wild card teams. You never know I have seen many strange things in the NFL.

The Patriots are over rated, no one will say it though. Everyone and their grandmother has jumped on that band wagon. The Pats have looks bad and vulnerable in their last 3 games, they might have beaten Pittsburgh today and scored alot. The D still looked pretty weak. Dallas would beat them in a rematch as would Indy. Indy is getting healthy and Dallas has gotten better every game this season. Unlike New England who has gotten worse since they beat Indy.
