To Tampa Ray fans?

Question

Your team has now changed their logo and uniforms and dropped the Devil from the name. Their also looking to build a new stadium. All good things for a franchise that needs a lot of help.
But what is it gonna take to become a competitive team? Since becoming a team in 1998, they have flat out sucked. Is it a small market team or do the owners just not wanna spend the money?
One last note, how do people in St. Petersburg feel about the team playing in your city but representing Tampa? Or does it even matter?

Incompentent ownership has aided in the Rays in not having a winning season yet, but as many have said, as long as a small market team follows the script that the A's and Twins and some other small market teams have followed by having a strong farm team is a start. Once you get your strong farm team, good players will replace the good players that are asking for big bucks. But what was also said, also invest in 3 or 4 good players that will be the face of the franchise, and things will start to take shape.

hey man don't put down the devil rays they play in a hard division and not everyone wants to try and win every year by spending ton of money

I'm a Yankees fan but I have respect for teams even if they aren't a good team
The least people can do is help these Rays out with some self confidence for the following years

If they keep the team they have for 5-8 years nobody will want to play them

The have a good core group of young players but as long as the ownership is unwilling to spend some money on three or four solid players they will never be a contender.
