I believe people should make it on their own merit and nothing else. There is only one true minority left, the one that is excluded due to AA. People get ahead now due to color, gender, nepotism or good old fashioned butt kissing. Our merits are rarely a factor.

More important? Ah dear, discrimination is wrong regardless of "why." While it is true (in my lifetime) that people of certain ethnicity's needed a helping hand, it is hardly true today. Yes, I recall the "White Only" signs at the drinking fountain and at the movie theater. But those days are long since gone. Just the other day (while standing in line at Walmart), I saw a woman wearing a t-shirt advertising black only universities. "The blacker the college, the sweeter the knowledge." REALLY? And this isn't racism? Neither affirmative action nor reverse discrimination are relevant today.

Affirmative action and reverse discrimination are one in the same. In my opinion, no college, or employer should ask what race you are. What difference does it make? If a person is qualified for a job, it shouldn't matter what color their skin is. Same with colleges. it shouldn't matter what ethnicity someone is when it comes to getting into college, getting loans or grants. There also should be no Hyphenated races ie:African American, Irish American, Hispanic American. In my opinion, you're either an American or African, or Irish, or Hispanic.

Affirmative action with the way it is executed is wrong. Whenever someone has an advantage because of the color of their skin it is wrong. Even Martin Luther King wanted ALL men to be created EQUAL. If someone who is underqualified gets a job over someone who is qualified, no longer are they equal. Whenever a student gets a special grant from on organization like the NAACP based on their skin color that is wrong. Why would an organization like the NAAWP giving grants to white people be wrong? If you want everyone to have the same oppurtunities, make all teachers like military, you go where you are ordered to go.
