The Christmas cards have started arriving and my husband and I got into an argument today because I opened one. He said that Christmas cards are to be opened on Christmas. I say they are opened before so you can display them and send cards back if you got one from someone you weren't expecting it from.

This is our 3rd Christmas together and he has watched me open and display the cards the prior two years. Is he just messing with my head (which he loves to do) or do some people really not open the cards till Christmas day????

Jeanne, I am not some 19 year old bimbo in a controlling relationship too blind to see it. My husband has a sense of humour, I tend to take things very seriously. My husband can hold a straight face (he should play poker) and probably tomorrow or with the next Christmas card he'll fess up. How can you determine a relationship based on one yahoo question? I think you are the one that needs therapy or at least lessons on how not to jump to a conclusion!

i bet he's just messing with you. Everyone i have ever known opens there cards before christmas. If i was given a birthday card the day before my birthday i would NOT wait to open it.

If you want to really find out if he is messing with you call his mom (or whoever he grew up with) and see what they do. you have to be sneaky about it though. dont just call and say that you two are in a huff about it, because naturally that person will agree with him (even if its just for fun)

Tell them that you are having issues on displaying your cards, you dont know if they should go on a mantel or a window sill, etc. Ask where they "have been putting" their cards.

THEN! if you find out that his "gaurdians" have already opened theirs and it is not their "Tradition" to keep them until Christmas... You have totally busted him messing with you

Babybugs,
Our family, and every other family I have ever seen opens the cards before Christmas and looks for special ways to display them. It sounds to me like your husband is having some control issues. When anyone tries to control others there is a problem. Go to counseling now before it becomes a serious threat to your relationship. This is not a "joke" he is playing with you. You may not have the experience to recognize this at this stage, but I have worked in the mental health field. I have seen this at this stage many times, and it always progresses to trouble. Counseling can nip this in the bud.

I've always opened them to display! I think he's playing with you, since you've opened them in the past.

ok from a women individuals attitude....that's not finding reliable....its suitable to furnish her some area being to forward will in basic terms push her away. You already made it sparkling which you wanna get returned at the same time so in basic terms anticipate her again returned to you. i understand u suggested do not say circulate on yet from the place i'm seeing it there's a possility you adult adult males won't get returned at the same time. sometimes as quickly as I confer with my exs they get the incorrect concept approximately desiring them returned. It in basic terms may well be I wanna caught up or leave out chatting with them. anyhow reliable success!

In my family, we would open them when we recieve them, send a thank you note and put them out for display. Same with my hubby's family!
