I started teaching my 10yo cribbage yesterday and then he beat me at backgammon.
We play games ALL the time. I don't know if I have an absolute favorite. My tops are SET, Blokus, Quelf, Pictionary and Scatergories.
I also have two favorite memories:
One is when my husband and I used to challenge my mom and dad to Pictionary quite often and my dad used to tease my husband about his abysmal geography skills. My husband got Greenland and was busy drawing an island off Alaska and I, knowing how my husband's mind works, got it anyway. We still laugh about how hard my dad laughed.
Another good memory is about my brother and I when we were 4 and 5. My grandma had an ancient monopoly game we used to play with behind her sofa. We had no idea of the rules so we'd put all the money in a pile, say, "1, 2, 3, go!" and then grab as much money as we could in one swoop. Anything left over belonged to the bank. We spent hours playing our own version quite happily, though it wasn't til years later that we figured out what those little houses were for. And we did have to provide loans to the bank fairly often.

We play board games several times a month. I am a collector and I have around 100 Monopolies.
It wasn't too many years ago that my then 8 year old grandson whipped us in monopoly for the first time. Naturally I don't like loosing, but I was proud of him catching on to the winning techniques.
I stomped them all playing Sun-Maid Raisins Monopoly last week.

I play competitive Scrabble. One time I was at a tournament in Melrose, Florida and was playing a really good player (guess she thinks the same thing about me since we have similar ratings!). Anyhow she made some play ending in a "Y" which is what I needed to make my bingo--use all 7 of my letters. The word was journeys and went through a double-double for 126 points!!! I realize this isn't even close to the highest counting word ever played, but it was my all time high and I was a happy camper!!!

We play games a lot. Our faves are Apples 2 Apples, Loaded Questions, and Taboo.
My fave memory is playing marathon sessions of Monopoly with my old roommates. One would inevitably lose everything and start offering to mow lawns on the properties he used to own to get reduced rent. Hilarious.

I played Scrabble when I was home for Thanksgiving.
My favorite board games to play are Scrabble and Monopoly.
While playing Scrabble with my parents, I managed to convince my dad that "omar" was not a proper noun and in fact was a type of monkey. We still laugh about it to this day.

I remember when we were playing Monopoly and my cousin (who happened to be the only girl of our clique of 4 people) succeeded in going around the board 3 whole times without landing on one property she could buy. We all laughed at her.
