I dumped $70 into a single concert ticket for Tuesday night, however, I have now been scheduled to work. How can I go about getting out of work without just not showing up?

I don't know how attached you are to your job. If you call in sick and someone sees you at the concert from your place of employment you could lose your job. You might consider selling your ticket.

Try to get someone to swap shifts with you if that's allowed. Otherwise I would just go to your boss and explain the problem, surprisingly, honesty does work.

Talk to your boss and see if you can switch shifts for another day with someone. But you should have asked for the night off several weeks ago...

You can call in sick, but it's gonna be suspicious.
But there probably isn't another way that won't cost you your job, and any chance of a decent reference in the future.

Tell your employer. You should have said something when they told you to work the day of the concert.

Quit your job tomorrow (Monday). Tell them you've had enough.

After the concert, say on Wednesday or Thursday, begin a new job hunt. You can use me as a reference.

Good luck
