What do you think of the movie Rent?

I heard a lot of good things about it before I watched it, but I ended up not really liking it. Did you like or not, and why?

The movie is not even CLOSE to as good as the stage show.

I don't hate the movie but there are parts that are stupid (Like Out Tonight-Another Day and Maureen's proposal to Joanne- which doesn't happen in the show!) And they cut some of the most important scenes out of the movie so it doesn't make as much sense.

Rosario Dawson really does not do the character of Mimi justice. The cast are mostly too old to look realistic....there is a lot wrong with the movie.

The movie does not have the energy of the live show.

I enjoyed it, though it is sad and omitted songs from the original Broadway musical. It offers diverse gender and ethnical characters. This movie will appeal you more if you were a gen-xr (youths during the late '80s to early '90s) coz you will understand the message of film better. I think it was written in the late '80s, during the time when there was too much discrimination and stigma towards people with HIV or AIDS. The time when having the virus spelled doom.

I did like it but I believe that it would be better seen on stage. I don't believe all stage plays should be put in movie form. But it was good but not as good as I thought it was going to be either

I didn't care for it. The music was good, but I couldn't really bring myself to care about what happened to any of the characters. I thought they were annoying.

i loved it other than the fact that their is gay people but i like it
