G'day. A PC motherboard is a printed circuit board used in laptops and personal computers. It is also known as the mainboard or planar board and occasionally abbreviated to mobo or MB. The term mainboard is also used for the main circuit board in this and other electronic devices.

A typical motherboard provides attachment points for one or more of the following: CPU, graphics card, sound card, hard disk controller, memory (RAM), and external peripheral devices. The connectors for external peripherals are nearly always color coded according to the PC 99 specification.

All of the basic circuitry and components required for a computer to function are onboard the motherboard or are connected with a cable. The most important component on a motherboard is the chipset. It often consists of two components or chips known as the Northbridge and Southbridge, though they may also be integrated into a single component. These chips determine, to an extent, the features and capabilities of the motherboard.
Some graphic cards are incorporated into the motherboard, whilst others are fitted into a slot in the motherboard. If the motherboard wouldn't accept the graphic card, perhaps the card was the wrong type for that motherboard.

The mother board on a computer is like all the city streets and stop lights. In other words - you are going now where without it. Most motherboards have a slot (AGP, PCI, PCIe) that will accept graphic cards. Some have onboard video - a chip installed on the mother board itself.
If you post more info about your computer (make and model) we will be able to tell you what type of video card your computer will accept.

Some people call it motherboard and sometimes Main board or system board.

It is the central point of your computer. everything in your computer is connected to that board.

everything is communicating to each other through the ma inboard.

To allow the system board to support your graphic card , you may have to download and install the chipset driver first.

Good luck.

So let me ask,"Your motherboard stopped accepting the graphics card?" Never heard of this! You could have lost the drivers for the graphics card, if you've re-installed the G.card, or perhaps if you did a System Restore. Re-install the graphics cards drivers, from it's cd disk. If the "someone" told you that the motherboard -stopped- accepting it I have to assume that the graphics card once worked.

Can you explain what your symptons are that made you think anything was wrong to begin with?

well if you are using that computer then that "someone" is wrong.

if not the motherboard could be broken or the graphics card and/or your drivers are not installed.

You need to check your motherboad or you have to buy a new one. The montherboard is where you can see the keyboard, mouse, ports, etc.. are attached. This is where you can find capacitors, IC and chips..
