No - he is named after a football player - The link below tells where his name actually comes from -

"Mitt Romney is the son of former Michigan Governor and 1968 presidential candidate George W. Romney, and 1970 U.S. Senate candidate Lenore Romney. His name "Willard" was after hotel magnate J. Willard Marriott, his father's best friend. Mitt, his middle name, comes from his father's cousin Milton, who played football for the Chicago Bears."

Possibly, but doubtful.
However, it does answer why he has no chance. We are just not going to elect anyone to the White House who goes by "Mitt."

And this is coming from someone whose students call him "Bucky."
