You might want to manage songs on your iPod manually if you want to use your iPod with more than one computer, or if your iTunes library has more music than your iPod can hold.

To load songs onto iPod manually:
Connect your iPod to your computer.
When the iPod icon appears in the iTunes window (under Devices), select it.
If the Summary pane is not showing, click the Summary tab.
Select "Manually manage music." (If you have an iPod that displays video, the checkbox says "Manually manage music and video.")
Click Music (below Library, on the left side of the iTunes window) and then drag songs and playlists to your iPod.

if the new songs u are trying to add are in the same folder as the old songs, u might want to spent a couple of minutes or more depending on how many songs u have. Go to that folder of songs u no longer want and then uncheck or unselect the songs u dont want no more. then sync it all over again.
Secondly, u could easily make a folder and place all the new songs that u want in this folder, then go back to the sync option page then uncheck all the other folders you already have checked then check the new folder, then sync

when you sync your ipod the new songs will get added and no they will not add the other songs again if that is what you were thinking. But if you want to do it manualy you uncheek all the songs and then just cheek the ones you want and sync
