i have pcos, i am also 12 weeks preg with our 4th baby. so you can get preg. usually they first put you on a metication called metformin (my insurance covered it, its taken when you have pcos even when not trying to get preg) it helps with the insulin problems and by doing that it can make you ovulate each month, thast what my dr told me, lucky that worked for me. if it hadnt then the dr would have put me on clomid, a fertility drug. im not really sure what comes after that but many many women with pcos get preg.
heres some info on metformin and pcos http://www.pcos.insulitelabs.com/Metformin-and-PCOS.php

PLEASE READ THIS:

I am going to be str8 up honest with you, I am 20 years old and I have been researching and reading about pcos from 17 years old, this is my 4th year also of ttc #1 so just take your time and read.

Pcos is a diease that messes up a woman reproductive system, it can be treated but it can't be cured, I am not trying to scare you but not every woman who have pcos can conceive easily like others, I was ttc from the age of 16 and nothing every happen, I am currently taking metformin, this cycle I'll be on clomid, not every medication works on everyone, some ladies with pcos ovaries are in good healthy shape, thats why they can conceive so quickly and easily, there is hope for some ladies but some ladies must fight the sypmtoms their self, most dr would tell you whatever but you can get pregnant, if metformin can't help, clomid would probably work, or you'll have to do IUI,IVF or ovary drilling, adopting is a nice thing, I wish I could have adopt but I can't because my country doesn't allow that, all I can really say is change dr because your dr have no rights telling you that you can't conceive

There are treatments for PCOS....you can get on fertility medicine. Clomid works for a lot of women with PCOS....about 80% of women with PCOS can concieve....have you gone to a fertility specialist? They will be able to help you in ways that a general practice doctor or an OBGYN can't....you might want to consder seeing a speicalist.....Dont give up hope! ..My doctor told me that he thinks I have PCOS, he told me that I have a lot of options too.........You have been trying for a year natually...maybe its time that you try for someing a little more aggressive, maybe Clomid, or another fertility medicine......my husband and i have been trying for almost 9 months and I cant get pregnant because i dont ovulate....i know how it feels....i really do!!! I hope that you are able to get pregnant and soon!
Here is a website that i have looked at about PCOS, it has answered some questions that I have had.... http://www.4woman.gov/faq/pcos.htm

Did your dr not mention any medications that you can take? Some women have luck taking a mediction called Metformin, this helps with the insulin resistance that can cause hormones to be out of wack. They can also give you clomid to help you ovulate. Never say never. I was told I had PCOS and I got pregnant after 5 months of trying.

PCOS can be managed with meds (metformin) and diet (low-carb) - both of which will increase fertility / help with ovulation. Wife has PCOS and conceived twice within a year after being diagnosed with PCOS (and prescribed metformin).

Also can take fertility meds to increases chances. There are many alternatives - you need to talk to your doctor (or get second opinion) on PCOS and how to manage it.

Why cant you have babies, there are tons of women who have PCOS and have there own babies? Something does not sound right, I know a lot of doctors dont help couple conceive unless they are marreid but I would get a second opinion.

I know people who were overweight and had PCOS, and when they lost weight were able to conceive naturally. So if weight is an issue for you, that might be one way to help yourself. There are also meds that can help, like Clomid.
