I have two questions about apartment utilities. Is there a monthly sewer bill when you rent an apartment? How much is the insurance on an apartment for a studio in northeast ohio? I'm a senior in high school and my girlfriend wants to get an apartment with me when we graduate. Is she crazy?

My rent includes water and sewer. I pay all other utilities (lights, phone, cable). Some apartment complexes don't cover the water and sewer. You have to ask when you rent the place.

My renters' insurance is only $17 a month and it will pay replacement cost if all my stuff gets stolen or burned to cinders. You don't HAVE to get insurance, but if you don't, you're an idiot.

You are generally better off to obtain an apartment WITHOUT utilities included. Any landlord will include utilities at a rate HIGHER than you may use. You have no option to reduce costs if the monthly fee is static. If you pay your OWN utility costs, then YOU can control the levels of usage by conserving utility costs. If utilities are included, you may be paying costs for other tenants who use large amounts of utility costs. NO landlord is going to suffer a loss on included utilities.

Living on your own is expensive so you both better have good paying jobs. The monthly sewer and water bill though are usually the responsibility of the landlord. You'll be responsible for monthly rent and any utilities not covered my landlord. Those might be electric, heat, phone, Internet and cable.

She's crazy, and you're equally crazy if you agree to it.

Meanwhile, utilities such as water, heat, electricity and sewer charges depend on what type of premise you rent. In most apartment complexes, however, you will find water and sewer charges included. Many require that each tenant pay heat and electricity.

You will need to check around.

sewer is uaually paid by the owner but sometimes it's not you must ask the landlord cause it may or may not be included. Also insurance is not something you must have, and if you want it it is usually real cheap like $50 a month
