You'll have a tank filled with algae. It's really best to set up your tank away from windows.

As a general rule, yes. Not only because it increases potential for algae, but have you ever sat inside a sunny window? The combination of sunlight and glass increases temperature, and this can cause your tank water to overheat (especially if you have a covered tank that will hold heat in).

Some species do seem to spawn only in morning light, however, but this would be a special circumstance, and they should be in a tank set up for breeding. You can also use sheer curtains to block most of the light so algae and/or temperature wouldn't be as much of a problem. But once spawning has occured, the tank should be moved or the window covered.

You wouldn't want to put a tank directly infront of a window. I have mine in a not so great place(about 4feet from a large window) and struggle with algea. My plants enjoy the extra light. It will also alter your water temperature, so you must have a way to cool down your tank if you live in a warmer climate. We have AC and I have thick drapes that I pull during the day in the summer.

This has already been stated, but yes it is not a good idea. You can cause unwanted algae growth. Also it could raise the temperature of the tank to high for the fish to handle it and kill your fish. Copperhead made some good points in his answer though.

it depends on what kind of fish u have, some require light and some dont.look up all the breeds of your fish and find out what they need...plus if u have a mixture of fish and some of them like light and others dont get some logs or something big enought they can hide under.
