call his parents and let them know what happened. Let them deal with it but make sure he knows you are upset and what he did is not allowed!!!!

OMGosh
you call his mom right now !!!
What a little opportunist
and what the heck was he doing all this time?
How disrespectful.
The worst thing that can happen to him needs to happen . He needs to be grounded to YOU.

When My daughter got caught sneaking out at 15 I grounded her to me. If I got my hair done or shopped for groceries she had to go. I went to church( both services lol) she went too. I went to PTA she went too. If I was in the yard cutting the grass...guess what??? she was there. I even pulled her bed into my room. She hated it for the first 2 weeks, then we began to bond and we are still as close as any mother and daughter ever were. she got 6 weeks. of ME lol and we learned alot about each other.

Tell him that he is grounded for however many hours to days that he leaves without telling you where he is going. For example Since he was gone for about 27 - 28 hours, then he is grounded for 27 - 28 days.

Report to his parents what he's done. And ask them what they think you should do. Also, he being in your house has disprespected you by doing this. He needs to know that this is not right. Give him guide lines to go by, and as long as he is staying with you, he needs to abide by them. I'm sure his parents won't mind that.

You need to tell him that there a certain rules that he needs to follow and that you are responsible for him and you need to know where he is. Tell him that it will not be tolerated and he should show a little respect. Even though he is not your son you can still discipline him.

Think of how you'd deal with your own child. Bring it down about 1/10th in intensity. That's good. It's still something you should deal with harshley if you don't want it to happen again.

You should call his mom. I guess he thinks you won't punish him.
