To Chomsky, list 2 real motivations for the U.S. going to war with Iraq.

IS one of the answer this?
• U.S. does not want to establish the principle that it has to defer to some higher authority before carrying out the use of violence.

I don't think that Chomsky reads Yahoo Answers, but as far as i can tell, the two real reasons the U.S. invaded Iraq are:

1. Israelis rule over the U.S. (no doubt about it) and they take this country to wars with their Muslim foes (they fight via proxy). The Middle East is a hot spot for a simple reason that Israel is there.

2. The Israeli lobby that rules over the U.S. is well known to have a global government agenda. This was crafted way back, In Babylon. Invading the Middle East is just one step toward that end.

It is not about oil as some believe because the U.S. has spent way too much to get back from oil. We are talking trillions of dollars.

John J. Mearsheimer and Stephen M. Walt are probably better in helping you here than Chomsky - you may read their article (they also have a book) at:

The link below is for the text in the Congressional Resolution to Authorize Offensive Military Operations against Iraq. The reasons are clearly listed and many of them mirror those contained in the Iraq Liberation Act of 1998. That's the second source listed. Apparently Noam and his circle of friends don't have a hangout which offers free WiFi. Otherwise they might be able to read these sources also. LOL!
