The Red Wing throw the octopus on the ice, the Panthers fans would throw rats, Roger Neilson had Canucks fans waving towels, and the Lightning will not step on their team logo (embedded as part of the carpet) in the dressing room.

What are some other crazy NHL team traditions?

-Patrick Roy during the pre-game, would skate out to the blue-line and stare at the net, envisioning it shrinking. He would also consciously never step on the blue-line or red-line.and talked to his goalposts
-Hasek would guzzle down copious amounts of coffee
-Steve Larmer needed to have 30 sticks of gum each game.
- Ray Bourque took his skate laces out after morning skate -- completely out. Then, before the game, he relaced them. The next morning, same thing. Lacing his skates was something he did to calm himself down.
-Pele Lindbergh would wear the same old orange t-shirt from a Swedish sporting goods company under his equipment. Each time the shirt started to fall apart, he had someone sew it up.Between periods, he wouldn't drink anything but a Swedish beverage called Pripps and would only take a sip if there were exactly two ice cubes in the cup. A particular team trainer, by the way, could only deliver that cup to him.

15 question marks and no actual question.
The lone Red Wing? I think it's Red Wing fans throwing "an" octopus on the ice. Panther fans "used to" throw rats.

Not stepping on the team logo is common among all teams.

Crazy NHL traditions? Fans showing up to pack Make Belief Gardens and the ACC despite the fact their ownership is laughing all the way to the bank putting out BS teams year after year. I think that's a classic crazy tradition.

Blackhawk fans going crazy during US nat'l anthem is a tradition that needs to come back.

The Flyers have an annoying habit of getting to the Finals only to lose to a team on the cusp of a dynasty.

1975-76 Lose to Montreal and Canadiens win Stanley Cup 4 years in a row.

1979-80 Lose to NY Islanders who run off 4 of their own.

1984-85 Lose to Edmonton and again in 1986-87 during a run where the Oilers win the Cup 5 times in 7 years.

1996-97 Lose to Detroit as the Red Wings win consecutive titles.

lol @ Yeddie

Many players have funny traditions. #21 of the Ducks wore his lucky blue suit during the playoffs. It worked :)

The Ducks don't have a real traditon yet, maybe being the highest penalized team for every season seems to be it though. We need shirts We Love the Sin Bin!
