What is bad and evil about Communism?, no true Communist country or society has ever truly existed, so why do people criticize Communism so much as being the root of all evil?, The Soviet Union was only evil and cruel under Joseph Stalin, after him the Soviet Union was much better. I am not a Communist, I'm just wondering why people criticize and judge something without fully knowing what it is first.

Truly most people do not know enough about it to have an opinion and they parrot an opinion based on propaganda. In a democracy, you do not have to be an expert to have an opinion.People have opinions on all manner of things they don't fully understand.

Most Communists believe in the violent overthrow of all bourgeois democratic governments. There is no democracy that is so tolerant that it allows people to overthrow it. Even the Communist Party of the Soviet Union had to renounce violence as a means of political change in order to exist legally in Russia.

A paradox is that Communists believe that the workers should rule. So logically, since American workers are mostly anti-communist, a communist has to oppose himself. There are many other Marxist, syndicalist and Socialist groups which are more democratic, tolerant, and mainstream than communists.

Because every attempt to implement Marxian Socialism has turned to crap. In the case of the USSR, it was a superpower for a while, but it didn't last.

For a truly communist society to develop (no state, no currency etc.) all opposition would have to disappear. That means no capitalist countries. Trotsky was right about one thing - true communism can't develop without a worldwide revolution.

And that'll never happen.

Evil is a short easy word for many people to say and understand, as in "axis of evil". Most people don't even understand that the US isn't a democracy per se, but a democratic republic. So how in the heck are they going to understand concepts like socialism or communism? It's much simpler to dismiss something than try to understand it.

You have Joe McCarthy to thank for that. Hatred for all things leftist, socialised and communist has been hammered into the American psyche for so long that even the slightest mention of any gets most Americans backing away with a crucifix or gnashing their teeth. This in itself is a form of indoctrination that was so feared the "commies" in the 50's would do. It has become a knee-jerk reaction.
With the fall of communism a new bogey-man had to be found. These days it's Islam.

You should ask the Eastern Europeans, N Koreans, Chinese, and Cubans.

Sure it is Utopian, and sounds nice in theory, yet how many people have been murdered and oppressed for the sake of spreading and maintaining communism?

It is a revolutionary and imperialist ideology, Communism sucks, and has caused lots of problems.
