Actually they think that integrity means doing what is right even when it isn't easy. Neo-cons strike me as the type that would turn on each other in an instant if put in a bad situation. For neo-cons the ends justify any means. This is a sign of cowardice, lack of character, and being void of integrity.
Those who do the right thing, even when facing dire situations, are the true heroes of humanity. Christ said to love your enemy, and be merciful. It appears that bible thumping neo-cons only do so when its convenient.

Why do you think "libs" don't want to stop terrorists? I am a liberal minded person and I want to stop terrorism in the US. I just think there are more intelligent and effective ways to go about doing it than are currently being advocated by the right. I don't have to argue it to you though. Under the current administration, terrorism has increased. Check the graph on the link.

-Terrorists don't place nice. Children know that.
-But adults with ethics try to follow agreements they've made, like the Geneva Convention.
-Even if ethical adults are not treated fairly in return, even though it's not popular, even though there are many risks and consequences, they do it because it's the right thing to do, despite the temptations to seek revenge or use illegal, immoral methods.
-Just because they do it is not an excuse to torture people.

To answer your question;
I believe it is because they do not believe in the resolve of terrorists to achieve their goals. That terrorists believe to die for a cause is a honorable thing to do with their life and not walking with some protest sign is going to get it done.
