Maybe you dont have to wax it off. Check with an aesthetician. She or he can look at it and say "go for the waxing" or "no, just use Nair of other depilatory products off the counter.
Hair over your lip if you are a girl is usually easy to pull off, does not grow long, and light.
Just because you asked (normally women have no problem with it) that means it had bothered you enough so my best answer is:
Go to the experts on beauty. I heard that waxing hurts. I have seen a few friends come back to work with clean smooth legs who swear the pain was worth every tear they shed. Hmm whole leg means almost 2 square feet of hair to wax vs maybe one square inch over your lip.....

Waxing the upper lip does not hurt. Waxing other areas? Very painful!

Just a little sting for a minute, I would rather have the wax and have skin very smooth than bleach or anything like that.====

Upper lip? Yes, even if its a little, the hair tends to be looser there so more painful.
Bleaching is good if its only a little, shaving if its a bit more.
