Do you think that the shootings problems and killings spree at schools are because the indiscriminating sell of guns and the free access to them? I know that it is one of your rights, but my question is to the American people and I want to know their opinion and their point of view. Thank you.

I don't think you can blame this on an inanimate object. It still takes a person to do the carnage.

I think there are two main problems.

1. People are not held accountable for their actions, Ref: The Twinkies defense. Pleeeze, give me a break.

2. If you protect yourself or your property you will go to jail. The victims are the ones responsible for most crimes. At least that what it sounds like in court. As a victim it is nearly impossible to defend yourself legally. As a defendant there are attorneys coming out of the woodwork to protect you even from yourself.

I can't see much difference between a crazy man with a gun and a crazy man with an automobile. Either can do a lot of damage before they can be brought under control. I suppose a killing head shot to a shooter will stop things right now, but to the head of a driver, well the car could go on to kill or cripple many before it comes to rest.

I am retired military. I have handled bodies of men killed by bomb bursts, gunshots, crushing as well as impalement. But the worst ever for me was a car accident. I covered an acquaintance with a sheet who had been beaten to death with a garden hoe and I sat on a jury in a 1st Degree Murder case where the murder weapon was a claw hammer. Both were ugly but there's nothing like a good car wreck to tear up a human body.

I think the shooting incident in Colorado just today could have been so much worse if there weren't an armed security guard there to shoot the shooter!

We must have the freedom to protect ourselves. Only in states and in "no gun zone" schools, do you find horrific killing sprees that no one is able to quickly take care of!

Guns don't kill. People kill.
