Give him gum or something else that will keep him from smoking for a while until you come up with a good plan. Sorry. I never had this problme.

I know that it must be rough witnessing your friend smoke and feeling helpless because you are screwed either way. What is most important to you? Is more important for your friend to be healthy or to not be an uncool friend by ratting him out. I should suggest you speak with an adult who is trust worthy and down to earth, someone you trust--tell them that you have a friend who smokes and ask them for suggestions on how to help him quit. Smoking in general is not good for your health. You sound very youthful, so make sure you let someone know an adult that you trust and if possible just try not to mention his name. Just say you have a friend that you want to help so he stop smoking. Explain you do not want to seem like a snitch which is why you rather not say his name. Ultimately someone should know what is going on and yes this will involve adults because adults can assist you much better than someone who is still a child themselves.

You must let your friend know that you do not want to be around when weed is in use. You can also remark on how that odor stands out to those that have tried it and no longer do it. Weed is the first step into depending on substances to deal with life instead of ones personal strengths. The retreat into drugs or alcohol usually causes more problems than it cures.

both of you should stop. try talking to your friend first. it wont help if he/she doesnt think they have a problem with it. if you dont smoke regular, tell your friend that you're not smoking anymore and would like him/her to help get away from it.
My son has smoked for almost 5 years. it does cause serious neurological damage which he's dealing with now, now that he's almost 20. In fact, a friend of his just died because he had smoked the night before, didnt get any sleep, and fell asleep behind the wheel of a car. get your friend some help!
and about weed not being addictive? a drug is a drug is a drug and they are ALL addictions

you cant make him quit, if you RAT on him that is just wrong. you can make him feel bad and not hang with him if he smokes, but then you look like a baby. so what do you do? get a different friend or suck it up and let him live his own life. yes it is illegal yes it is bad for you but no matter what you do to try and stop him there is a chance you will lose him as a friend, sorry the truth hurts.

Well, honestly, if they're smoking, in all reality, they don't want to quit. They're in their phase where quitting would be ridiculous. They enjoy it. All you can do is influence them and give them an ultimatum eventually. You or the weed. If the weed turns out to be more important, then they were never worth it in the first place.

Have you tried asking him why he started? maybe hes having trouble at home or with friends. Also does he want to quit? You cant make someone do something they don't want to do. If he does want to quit then it should be quite easy, weed is not an addictive substance so you can just stop like that and never have and withdrawal symptoms.

Surely you've seen the commercial with the girl and the dog. Her dog tells her he doesn't like it when she's smoking weed because she's not the person he knows. He tells her he wants her to quit because he wants his friend back. If it good enough for a dog, it ought to help you, too.

You can't make him stop, what you can do is not be friends with him until he stops. If your friendship is important to him, he will quit. If not, save yourself a lot of grief and stay away from him. 1) would you want to go to jail if in a vehicle with him and he has it on him? 2) Do you want to hear his excuses for not doing what he promises because the drugs make him less responsible. 3) Do you want the problems that come with drug abuse even though you are not the one using them?

Whatever you do don't let them persuade you to do it. Too many people have wonderful lives and give it up with weed. Tell him why you got off and do everything you know how to make him understand that he's hurting himself. Also if you have one, talk to the school counciler but don't use his name. Also don't tell the counciler if it's a he or she. Best of luck really.

You cant help him quit, he has to want to do that himself before he can be helped. I would make it clear that I am not happy that he is abusing his body in this way and that I prefer he does not do it around me.If he is a true friend he will respect your wishes. I know it is hard to see this and not report him but sooner rather than later he will give himself away. What a caring friend you are. hope he appreciates that.
