Over and over I see families who can't buy their kids shoes or coats spending money buying poor animals that they then neglect. It makes me SICK. Why are some people so AWFUL and thoughtless about their animals? Are they just possessions, things to own and collect?

Because they think it is a RIGHT!!! THey have no concept that there are LUXURIES that some people cannot afford!!!
And what is WORSE is that these people often cannot (or will not) pay for spay/neuter and let the animal reproduce when they cannot even afford ONE!!!!!
I see these people ALL the time at the spay/neuter clinic I work at. They want a FREE spay because they have NO money. BUT...they let the cat have 5 litters, wnat us to take the kittens also, they seem to have money for CIGS, and seem to be able to afford Tommy Hilfiger clothes for their kids.
I think it comes down to PRIORITIES!!!!

Oh god, another captured by the liberal faciast left, There is a bigger problem than people not being paid what there worth, I can get paid as much as I want in this Capatalist society, It all depend's on how much hard work I am willing to do for it. Yes it is true that some people are smarter in this area than others, It doesnt change what is still going on. Illegal aliens are just that, illegal. When the're allowed to work in the USA They undercut American's that need jobs, The Owners of bussinesses, Republican or Democrat use them as wage control and if youll notice the government keeps shy'ing away from what to do with them, we are in a reccession, they should be giving the boot. The other problem is our Government made it cheaper for American companies to move to India and China instead of laxing EPA laws and taxes on bussinesses to keep good paying jobs here where more Americans would have them

I agree with you. It's sad and who knows what they're thinking when they do it. I don't think some of them do it with the intentions of hurting the animal. I think they're only thinking about the 'here and now' and right now they want a pet. They aren't thinking about or else don't realize how much money will be involved in caring for it. By the way, I'm not trying to defend these people, only trying to see things from their side.

Well, because pets are "just animals" and it's okay if you can't take them to the vet because if they get sick and die you can always get another one. After all, they're "just animals" and they don't really feel pain like people do, because they don't show it in the same way. So if they're bleeding or if they got hit by a car or if they are throwing up and having diarrhea you don't need to take them to a vet because they'll "get better on their own" and if they don't then you just get another one. They're "just animals".
Yes, that was sarcasm...

OMG! This drives me crazy! It's so sad! There are alot of people who think animals are just about nothing. They buy them, rarely feed them, neglect them, keep them in filthy cages. Makes me sick and very sad. Poor little creatures :(

they think that pets will keep their kids busy. people can buy cheap foods for their pets and think that is all they need. who knows, some people treat their pets better than their kids. i am not a professional and don't understand why people do that kind of things, but they do and probably always will.
