Does our Country not deserve the best possible leader regardless of which party they afilliate with?

Because many people are bound more ideology than situations.

I am a Democrat and often vote for a Republican if I believe they are better than the Democratic candidate. In the 2008 presidential race I don't see anyone on the GOP side I can vote for so whoever the Democrats nominate will likely get my vote unless the Democrats are dumb enough to nominate Dennis Kucinich.

It's not that any of the candidates in the other party are evil or unqualified but they have vastly different priority's than I do.

I have watched several debates and no one in the other party shares my view on the role of government.

So I will not be crossing any lines (at least not to the other major party, maybe to a third party)

I agree with you, that is why I dislike political parties.

Personally I wish we could pass a law baning them, and requiring all candidates to run as independents focusing on the issues.
