Well, at 54 I am just diagnosed finally with Multiple Sclerosis, instead of the weird stuff they guessed at for so many years. Now my schedule has changed to accommodate the issues the disease has left me with in the last few months. My abilities may be permanently challenged or if I am lucky this will be a transient period and then back to normal until the next flare of the disease. For the time being though, morning starts with stretches and range of movement exercises to loosen me up. That is followed asap by a cup of hot tea. While drinking my tea I catch up on the daily news, weather and get in some quality quiet time with my SO. We chat about what our daily plans are and what we are going to do that evening. Our various projects often overlap so we use this as a basic coordination time as well for the day.

Getting ready for work consumes several hours at the start of my day. I start around 6:30 AM with the above and by 9:00 AM I am at my desk and as ready to work.

The rest of the morning can be either chaotic or blissfully productive, depending upon who is in the office, who is on the road and how many customers arrive during that time. I spend most of my time on the phone these days and running the front office. Later, when my recovery is complete I will go back to teaching and doing my real work.

By mid afternoon I am ready to crash but settle for a rest time, I spend it at my desk so I can get a bit of research done towards the home we are building. I work until at least 5 if I can now, later I will return to my normal 9 to10 hour days if I can. If not, I'll settle for less and watch the sunsets instead.

Dinner for us is a combined effort, one of us cooks or prepares our dinner each night, with the other providing support. Since I've been recovering my SO has carried the major share of the load. I have only just returned to being able to handle cooking a full meal alone. Thank heavens for pressure cookers and steamers for veggies!!! Both work quick and allow for easy clean up.

We watch TV a bit after dinner. Surf the net for information on our various interests every night. At least one night a week though we spend with our friends, a communal meal with every one contributing and then the talented members entertain the rest of us with acoustical guitars, fiddles, mandolins and bass. Those of us without a bucket or a "talent" to carry in it are responsible for the percussion.

We make time for our children, walk our dogs and play with our friends when ever the routine of our days allows for fun, which we make sure happens often. Did I mention we are building a new home during all this? :)

We work to live, not live to work. Our lives are going greener as we age and we like it that way. It's less harmful to our bodies and to our children's future.

Hope this helps.

Wake up. Hit snooze button on alarm any where from two to five times average. Get up. Let cats out. Hit bathroom. Let cats in. Feed them. Depending on weather and/or mood, or both, stay up or go back to bed. Eat light breakfast. Check e-mails. Maybe get dressed (in which case, I always shower).
On Thursdays and Fridays I go to my (oil) painting classes at the local art academy. That is the ONLY part of any week that is "scheduled".
