That's a tough call. As far as basketball is concerned, is the team at the new school either that much better or worse than the team you are already playing for? Could you add the boost they are looking for? The academics should always be the big consideration. Very few who play high school basketball ever go pro. If you have the dedication and the skills to take it all the way, stay. If not, go for the academics

Change can be intimidating but offers a lot of potential. You know the school you're at and that it doesn't offer much. You would make your folks happy by changing, have the chance to spend more time with that guy you dig on, and in addition you may come to find out that their basketball program is just as good. Make the leap and go to the new school. You can even work it out with your folks that if the new school doesn't have a good basketball team they can get you involved with a team outside of the school through parks and rec or something.

My situation is very similar to yours.
I'm a sophmore in high school, and I HATE the school I'm attending. But, I must admit. My grades are a lot better than they were last year at my old school (from a 2.30 to a 4.01 GPA). And next year I'm supposed to take 3 AP courses and 4 adv. classes that are only offered at that school I hate.
That school I want to go to isn't all that good, and I still want to go. But I have to think about my future. When I start applying to colleges/universities next year. They're looking for sudents who challenged themselves. And this school would benifit me.
So before you make your decision, think about the future. For being varsity on the basketball team, you can get scholarships, accepted into some of the best colleges, etc.
If you go to that school, think about what you would lose. That guy doesn't have what you have going for you.
Think about it.
