how do you write a news article?

its for my history homework, i know what im going to write but like what's the format/layout of a news article?

Start with a sub- heading, which is the main point of your article. then just write in reasonably short sentences to get the info across. As in:
Armada Sighted Off Plymouth
It was reported last week that The Spanish Armada, a mighty fleet of ships, had been sighted off Plymouth. Sir Francis Drake refused to let it interrupt his game of bowls. "there will be time enough to defeat the Spaniards when I finish my game" he said. Sir Francis completed his game and went on to rout the Spanish fleet.
