All of these are both ethical and legal issues. An ethical issue has to do with what a society finds to be morally right and wrong. A legal issue has to do something that is described by law and can be legally enforced or prosecuted. All three of the mentioned issues meet both off these criteria.

The most ethical issue facing our society is the inability or refusal of politicians to keep the promises they make to the electorate. Politicians become beholden to the money elite that finances their campaign for office. The electorate puts the politicians in office based on promises made, and the elite demands pay-back resulting in broken promises.

I think it has to do with intellectual property & education, and that it is an international issue. The owner of the intellectual property - the author of your textbook - has every right to get paid. BUT, doesn't everyone also have a right to a basic education? There seems to be a BIG conflict there....
