Having to watch my ex-fiancee have 36 stitches put into a self inflicted leg wound.
Seeing the same ex-fiancee hurl foul abuse at me parents.
Getting home to find the ex-fiancee had cut her feet open in my bed, and laid in that bed for 9 hours while I was on a night shift, and having to send her to hospital.
Hmmm, seems to explain the EX bit doesn't it

Relationship is a broad term.
It includes family and friends and i have watched many of those die. I don't think it gets much worse than that.
Everything else you still have a chance to say I care , I did not mean to hurt you, I am always there for you.
Dying leaves you nothing but your thoughts to live with.
