We know the Bulls hold the record for regular season wins with 72, so your question must be including playoff wins.

Since you are Tim Duncan, my first thought was that the answer would be the Spurs. Not so.

The only teams to win an NBA title with 78 total wins are the 1988-1989 Detroit Pistons, who went 63-19 in the regular season and 15-2 in the playoffs, and the 1970-71 Milwaukee Bucks, who went 66-16 in the regular season and 12-2 in the playoffs.

I went back to the 1964-65 season, and charted all of the teams. Back then, there were fewer playoff rounds, so you had to have a huge win total to reach 78 total victories. Here's the complete list (RS = regular season, P = playoffs):

2006-07 Spurs = 58-24 RS, 16-4 P = 74
2005-06 Heat = 52-30 RS, 16-7 P = 68
2004-05 Spurs = 59-23 RS, 16-7 P = 75
2003-04 Pistons = 54-28, 16-7 P = 70
2002-03 Spurs = 60-22 RS, 16-8 P = 76
2001-02 Lakers = 58-24 RS, 15-4 P = 73
2000-01 Lakers = 56-26 RS, 15-1 P = 71
1999-00 Lakers = 67-15 RS, 15-8 P = 82
1998-99 Spurs = 37-13 RS, 15-2 P = 52
