Resturants fight a constant battle with cockroaches. They like to lay eggs in corrigated cardboard. Food is then brought in in cardboard boxes. You are constantly bringing them in and have to spray for them, etc.

You should call the local health inspector about it. They will have to clean up.

"Stuff happens".

You can file a complaint with the health authorities in your State, and they'll investigate to see if this was an isolated incident or if the kitchen is violating the health code.

Contrary to what the other posters said, you have NO legitimate grounds for a lawsuit because you suffered no damages. Bugs get into food, and not the finest resaurant kitchen in the world can be 100% succesfull at preventing that.

Additionally, that the roach "crawled out" means that it had only recently got into the pie, not before it was cooked or reheated which also tends to imply it was just a 'wandering bug' that found something to eat.

I would defiantly tell the supervisor of the school. You're not making a big deal of anything and they probably need to clean out the cafeteria. Also the health dept might have to be called in. You're right to complain. there probably are others who haven't said a word and nopthing was done about it.

Well to start things off that is just gross. They should have thought before giving you that gift, why would you give someone a free meal after they had almost eaten a roach. I think that you should report to some kind of health facility and think of something that you would want out of those people.

It may be too late for this incident, but if you are ever served contaminated food, do not throw it out - refrigerate it and take it to your local health department for inspection.

As for the university, it would be worth a call into your county health department to see if they're up for inspection any time soon and to register your complaint.
