I am on Yasmin (bc pill) right now, and have been for a few years. I was thinking about getting an IUD, but I read up on it, and there seem to be more bad aspects of the IUD than positive benefits.

I am 19 yrs. old.

that fact that the mirena (which is an IUC) is more effective than birth control pills, you dont have to remember to take the pills and it is cheaper when you add it all up....mirena costs around 530.00 for 5 years!!! you spend at least 1,200.00 a year on birth control, and most insurance companies cover it, or most of it. and since its not metal like IUD's (its plastic) it has less side effects. i think that and IUC would be better..

EVERY woman I know who has used an IUD has had an infection or had it fall out--I asked around extensively when I was going on to birth control and decided to do the pills, based on that.

I like the pills, I've been on Ortho Cyclen for years.

I have the Mirena IUD and love it. But I am 40 and have had children. I no longer have heavy painful periods or PMS. I wish I had gotten this sooner.
