I consider dinner like supper. OR a Sunday dinner means in mid-afternoon. You??

This is funny: I just found a question that says does the word supper mean lunch or dinner. WTF?? I didn't think supper could be anything but an evening meal!! Just like lunch is a noontime meal!!

(I'm in Indiana)

i lived in nw ohio and moved to tennessee about 6 years ago...
in ohio everyone knew there was breakfast, lunch, and dinner/supper...i always called it dinner.
here in tennessee...i think people have breakfast, lunch/dinner, supper.
i always get confused when someone says lets go out for dinner...because dinner will always be the evening meal for me but around here it is not...
dang it, im confusing my self now.

We in the midwest use the supper for dinner.
I think that supper is supposed to be a meal between the lunch and dinner hours just like brunch is between the breakfast and lunch hours. Don't quote me on this because I am a midwesterner and I eat supper for dinner, or is it dinner for supper???
We sup and dine ; )

I'm from the south and supper is a common term for a night time meal. Actually, supper is traditionally considered a lighter meal served at 9 pm or later as a replacement for dinner which is earlier.

Here in Kentucky...

Morning = Breakfast
Midday = Lunch
Evening = Supper/dinner

Now there are Brunches, like from 11am to 1pm or so..
and sometimes My lunch is around 4pm(I sometimes eat later on in the day.).. then dinner at 7...could just depend on when people get ready for their meals...
also, when working, My lunchbreak was always called lunch...

Well, where I come from(virginia) it's a little complicated, the 'old timers' call the afternoon meal dinner, and the younger generation calls it lunch.
The evening meal...for 'old timers' is supper, and for the younger folks it's dinner...So I'm never sure of what meal I'm eating :D
