I don't think of Noah as a "typical" Christian name any more than Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John. It's becoming more and more mainstream....and a beautiful boy's name. One of my favorites!!!

Yes ... there are two Noah's in the bible (one male and one female), and the first Noah is very much held as one of the Bible's quintessential characters ... so there's no escaping it.
However, it doesn't have an overtly christian meaning (the masucline version means "rest, comfort" while the feminine means "motion") ... so it isn't like you're naming your child a name that means "my god is Yahweh" (a-la Elijah/Elliott).
Noah has become a very popular name in recent years, though: it was #15 in America in 06, versus names like Gabriel (#28), Elijah (#29), and Michael (#2) ... so, it is a fairly typical name.

Well it is a name from the bible so it has a religious source but it is not typically identifying a child as Christian if you choose such a name. My sons have names that come from the bible, not because I am religious (a bad catholic that never goes to church actually) but because I like them, they are good masculine and traditional names. I wouldn't worry about the Noah's ark story if you like the name, it seems to be getting more popular.

Yes and no. I definitely think of the Biblical reference when I think of Noah, but most of the people I know named "Noah" aren't Christians. I think it is a name that has become popular apart from its Biblical significance.
Names that make me think a boy definitely had Christian/Jewish parents are things like Enoch, Silas, Jeremiah, Elijah, and Malachi.

I love the name Noah for a boy, and obviously it makes me think of the bible story, but don't let that stop you, no one will assume you are "typical Christians" if you use that name.

yes. if you want him to have a biblical name that isn't over used you should try the prophets of the old testament like Malachi. But I don't hear Noah a lot now, and think it is a really calm, and promising name. Best wishes.
