Benj can travel 6 mi downstream in his canoe, with the current in the same amount of time he travels 2 mi upstream against the current. If the speed of the current is 2mph, find the average rate of the canoe in still water.

Answer is 4 mph, but i dunno how to set this up)

d= v*t=6
(v-2)t= 2 so vt-2t = 2
6-2t=2 and t= 2 h
to complete 6 miles against the current (v-2)*T =6 so T=6h as
v= 3 mph
Total distance = 12miles total time = 8h so the average velocity is
12/8 = 1,5 mph

time=d/r
6/(r+2)=2/(r-2)
6(r-2)=2(r+2)
r=4
