Will the new GTA IV game out sell Halo 3 on its opening day?

Halo 3 sold loads. Literally it broke the record however GTA IV has a huuuuge following its unbelievable.

Will the new GTA game outsell Halo 3 on its opening day?

Halo 3 sold, what, 2.1 million copies opening day and 3.3 million total for opening week, plus its a xbox 360 exclusive title... GTA IV is selling on 360, PS3 and PC?(don't know about PC for sure) Xbox 360 has sold around 14 million consoles, PS3 has sold around 6 million consoles,
let's also say 25% of Xbox 360 owners also have the PS3 which is around 3.4 million console overlap

Only around 16% of xbox 360 owners bought Halo 3 on opening day

So if you take into account that each console will probably sell 900,000 units between now and GTA IV release date

xbox 360 14.9 million units
PS3 6.9 million units

xbox 360 exclusive household 11.175 million units
PS3 exclusive household 3.175 million units

both console household 3.725 million units

multiply each figure by 16% and you get 2,892,000 GTA IV games sold opening day

but 1.5 million xbox 360's will have sold between the Halo 3 release and the GTA IV release but 16% of 14.9 million consoles is still 500,000 under the GTA IV number

so since everyone seems to think GTA IV is more popular than halo 3 it should really go past the sales figure stated above, I will say that GTA IV should out sell Halo 3, as long as enough copies are available, which is probably also why they pushed back release date so they would have time to make more copies
I think it will sell more on opening day, but I don't know if it will match actuall money sales figures, since they aren't going to be selling 1 million $130 dollar GTA IV legendary editions

GTA was put out on multiple platforms. It's already broken $500 million dollars in sales, which is around 10 Million copies. This is comparable to what Halo has sold to date, but Halo's sales are on the Xbox 360 only, while the GTA numbers include both PS3 and Xbox. GTA IV will have sold more total copies than Halo did by the end of the week if they haven't already, but they aren't even close on number of Xbox 360 copies.

I think that GTA 4 will outsell Halo 3 easily. First person shooters only appeal to a certain amount of people, but games like GTA appeal to many more people. When the new GTA 4 trailer came out last week the new trailer even crashed some websites because so many people were trying to get on certain websites to see the video.

GTA 4 will probably be the top-selling game for both the PS3 and 360 next year, but in terms of game of the year for the PS3, Metal Gear Solid 4 will take that spot.

I've already pre-ordered my Special Edition last year for my PS3 before the game got delayed and I can't wait for this game to drop.

I doubt it will. I'll be buying it the day it comes out though, where as I still don't own Halo 3, nor do I plan on owning it. I think I'm in the minority though, and I doubt GTA IV will outsell Halo 3 on day one.

Yes I believe it will. GTA San Andreas was the game of the year in 2004. So I believe that this one will be a real seller when it comes out.

I would prbably say it'll be some where around the same number. Have you seen the commercial? That is AMAZING graphics! Better than Halo 3, let me tell you.
It'll be really popular during Xmas.

the percentage of people who like halo 3 like gta4. so i'd say around a $65 million dollars on the first day might buy gta4 it has the most detail.

It will out sell, because it is out on more systems, as well San Andreas sold more than Halo2.
