My L120 Automatic has ceased mowing! I was mulching leaves, and the blades stopped spinning. Belts aren't broken and in correct positions and tensions... I moved off to a clear area, and when I push / pull the PTO button, nothing happens!
Any ideas as to what the problem is and how to fix? The Manual doesn't cover this in the trouble-shooting guide.
Thanks in Advance.

Well, no fuse for the PTO specifically, checked the wiring with an ohm-meter and it's all good... sounds like a burnt out clutch. Thanks to ALL.

u should have an in line fuse on the wiring that goes to ur pto, check that is not blown, check the plug n behind the switch where u turn it on,unplug it check to c if it is dusty or might b getting a bad connection,if this does not help, find u a dealer or a mechanic that can check under the top cover on the motor if this type has the pto on the clutch on the shaft on the motor they get burnt all the time, and either needs to b changed or cleaned, best help i can give u is to find an authorized mechanic or dealer other than that, hope it helps.

I had that problem when mowing with my LA145. A wire to the connector on the PTO clutch came off. Fixed the wire, worked for awhile. Recent problem, the wires all got ripped off the PTO clutch connector. Reason for that was the "clutch stop" (not sure what the proper name is) it s a black metal piece that is bolted on the left side of the frame and goes to a hole on the clutch to stop it from spinning. The tip of the stop broke. I couldn t find a part number for the stop but it show in photo s of PTO clutches on Amazon. Called different JD stores, think I found one, will get it tomorrow. Repaired the wires and with a new stop I should be back in business.

With you mulching leaves, the dust and debris could have caused it to overheat. You could have blown a fuse. The PTO switch could have malfunctioned. If the battery is drained, and the system is not charging, then the PTO will not work.
Being as we never see any John Deere, it is hard to tell you an exact fix. I would strongly suggest talking to a local dealer. If you don't know your local dealer, you can find it here: http://dealerlocator.deere.com/servlet/DealerLocator?selectLocale=en_US&showLocales=en_US:en_CA:fr_CA:es_MX&selectCountry=USA&showCountries=USA:CAN&locator=3&selectProduct=21
Hope this helps!
