I think the fact that most Americans do not have an interest in researching candidates on their own, and are content with what the media tells them, is the main reason I didn't run for office. The American public likes the status quo. They do not want to hear about how THEY are the ones polluting the environment, THEY are the ones that are causing schools to be unsuccessful, and THEY are the ones that tolerate others ( like the religious right ) telling them how to think and what they can and can't do. "Sheeple" is the adjective I am looking for here. Most Americans are content with their Ipods, their MP3's, and all their cells phones to be "concerned" about the real world. I try and have intelligent conversations with people about their government, politics and the real world, and all I see is Bambi.

Yes. In 1964, I ran for an elected political office, and the future was well mapped out for me to be in the running for U.S. Representative, from South Texas, in 1976.
I ceased seeking political office when I learned just how 'scummy' politicians are, and that was 43 years ago, when there were still some semblance of honesty in politics.
When I speak about politics, and politicians, I have some actual experience.

I considered it, but the day I decided not to was the day that Bob Dole was interviewed and commented he didn't think cigarettes were as addictive as some people made them out to be and for that was strung up by anti-smoking nutsos. It was that day I realised politics is a no win situation and I'd probably never be able to survive in a political arena.

I haven't given up those aspirations. I'm in college and have some time to establish myself as a credible candidate to gain support. Hopefully, some skeletons would remain my family closet. LOL.

Yes.
When evil people like the Clintons came into power, I decided that I wanted nothing to do with politics.

I would love to run for political office, but I know I'm not alpha enough to win or to hold office effectively.

But, just in case, vote for Mr. Bad Day!
