Because there aren't enough varieties in the avatars. And I don't really have a photo to download, so I picked the one closest to me. Since my hair style changes periodically, none of the avatars would keep up anyway. And I truly don't think anyone is judging my answers from my avatar. If they are they have a very limited life and too much time on their hands.
I use the avatars to know if it is a male or female, as sometimes my answer needs to reflect that. I would never be disappointed if I saw someone and they did not look like their avatar. My life is too full for such arrogance, that I think I know how people should look.

They don't really look like that, but I have red hair and pale skin and such. I think when they say that it means that they juts based it off of their features.

cause I live like in cartoons. I got shot and then I was drinking juice and it was pouring out through the whole. weird.

Its usually a caricature of them.Like a cartoon.Which takes your nose or hair or prominent feature and makes it you.
