Hi everyone. I can't seem to figure out what the tone of this poem is. Can anyone help me figure it out? Also, I need some words that creates the tone.

I’ve watched you now a full half-hour,
Self-poised upon that yellow flower;
And, little Butterfly! Indeed
I know not if you sleep or feed.
How motionless!—not frozen seas
More motionless! And then
What joy awaits you, when the breeze
Hath found you out among the trees,
And calls you forth again!

This plot of orchard-ground is ours;
My trees they are, my sister’s flowers;
Here rest your wings and when they are weary;
Here lodge as in a sanctuary!
Come often to us, fear no wrong;
Sit near us on the bough!
We’ll talk of sunshine and of song,
And summer days, when we were young;
Sweet childish days, that were as long
As twenty days are now.

The tone is delicate, intimate, as a of a person telling their inmost feelings. The words that create the tone are "What joy awaits you" and "My Trees they are my sisters flowers" - the person is obviously reminiscing about the past days of youth with warm and cherished memories.

Hope this helped!

It seems like a love poem, a love of all nature and wildlife. Just watching is inspiring the writer. It could also be a love poem for a person comparing them to a butterfly which is a beautiful creature

I am not sure what help this is but it won't hurt.

When i read it i initiatly got images of citrus/ summer and death. Don't ask me why. The flowers, the sanctuary, the memories of childish days. To me it seems as if someone is in heaven. looking down and wondering. But thats my feelings.
Good luck anyway

When I read this, I got the feeling of someone looking back in the past, during the summer and remembering there child hood days. I also got the feeling of someone in heaven looking back on earth in the past, being reminded of their childhood in the summer days. I also got a citrus,fruity feeling.

Pretty upbeat and optomistist tone. Sounds like being mesmerized by nature.

You need to be more specific about what you want for words to describe what, and to set what tone?
