Computer, cheaper to buy,laptops are harder and more expensive to upgrade (eg. to add more memory, or put in a bigger hard disk).
There's less wear and tear on a computer as it's static,less risk of damage and you can use bigger screens .Laptops are great to work and play on the run and they do have battery backup,but I prefer my computer to my laptop.

with laptops you can be anywhere, but computers are good for playing games.

i find laptops to be more effective. Desktops are simply stupid when there is a laptop that can work as effectively as desktop.
