i origanally owed £900.00 and the charges brought it up to £1700.00, im still paying this amount througha debt collection agency, will i be able to claim this back, i havent got any documentation with this card as it was years ago

What do you mean by "claim charges back"? Do you mean "deny that the original puchase was made?" I would think that if you are going to argue that you didn't make a given purchase that you should make that claim within 30 or 60 days of the charge.
P.S. I'm sure that there is a law covering this. Keep in mind that the credit card company pays the merchant even before it appears on your bill.
