She makes every day clothes, wedding gowns, all sorts of things, and I am thinking of asking if she can make a cloak for me, but only if it would not be too difficult. She is family and I do pay her for what she does for me, so taking advantage isnt so much an issue I just do not want her to be overwealmed with work to do (that happened this year, three baby slings, two wedding gowns, a few costumes and some skirts all to make within a couple months of each other)
I would like a full circle cloak with an oversized hood, if knowing the kind of cloak makes any difference.

A cloak is very easy. Some of us could do it in an evening. She just has to have a big enough work surface.

It shouldn't be hard at all, if she is used to making her own patterns. Some accomplished seamstresses are and some aren't; it all depends on the person. If she needs a printed pattern, find that for her (to make her job easier) and bring it with you when you bring her the fabric. There are several good patterns for this type of cloak available. Try Simplicity first, then McCall's. Yep, both have websites and both are available at most fabric shops. Others are also available, but you'll have to hunt harder to find those.

If you want to do her a special favor, offer to have her scissors sharpened or maybe vacuum her sewing area.

This would be easy for her. I am an amateur seamstress and I made a great cloak for my Jedi costume. I even recommend pattern 5840 from Simplicity. It took less than a day.

Unless you want something very fancy, with lots of trim (and even that's easy, just more time consuming) she should find a cloak rather brainless sewing. I could probably crank one out in less than a day.
