A copper mask from Cozumel, Mexico, which I actually like but can't find ONE appropriate place for it in my house.
Usually if I shell out the money, it's something I really like so seldom does something go unused....although I HAVE bought some indoor plants which I later said, 'what was I thinking' - since I know some plant varieties I have no luck with and should stick with the tried and true. lol
Oh yeah, just remembered! Last year I bought a 9x11 area rug that was BLACK..with a gold border...beautiful rug, looked great in my home, BUT I have an apricot and white, long haired cat! WHAT WAS I THINKING? lol...finally had to sell it...took too much time keeping it free of cat hair that always made it look like something had crawled up died on it! LOL

My Dad was a Miser and he taught me to be frugal and I have remained so, with a few exceptions, until now that I’m retired.
When I was first married, a magazine salesman talked me into subscribing to magazines for three years. (The year was 1959, with no 3-day decision clause)
My husband didn't approve and for good reason.
We were going in debt four dollars every month.
My husband worked a full time job, for less than two dollars an hour and was attending our state college.
It was a struggle to say the least and from that day on, we decided and promised that if we spent money we would, discuss it first and if it was a big purchase we would sleep on it over night.
At the time, we paid 18.00 dollars every two weeks for groceries.
It worked for several years and at a weak moment, I subscribed to a record club.
Times have changed. Now I spend a lot of money on my hobbies. I order boxes of print carriages, photo paper, Laminating sheets, disks for CD's and DVD's, copy paper and card stock, etc.etc.etc.
I thank my father for teaching me the value of a dollar and saving enough to be extravagant with my hobbies in my old age.
Thanks for the question. I find it difficult to be brief, I always seem to tell you more than you really wanted to know.

3 or 4 years ago I bought a slinky. They were on sale. I haven't played with one of those things since I was a kid. I was thinking at the time of when I 'was' a kid. Stupid me, it is still in the box. My nieces and nephews didn't want it. Maybe some day long after I am gone it will be worth something. Like a bent two-headed quarter or something of that nature. To tell the truth the two-headed quarter would probably be worth more.

I went to the grocery store after work today. After paying for my groceries, I stopped by the Starbucks inside the store and bought a large Caramel Macchiato with 2 Splenda's. I don't normally buy from Starbucks, but it has been a long day.

A pair of Skechers 4 wheel roller skates. I "loved" to roller skate as a kid. But after I bought them I got to thinking, I have not medical insurance and if I fell down, I would probably break or sprain something, so I have never used them.
The other thing was one of those TV informercial pasta makers. Tried it once, they did not turn out that great. Ended up giving it to Goodwill.

I bought a pool table for the house that I use to live in with my now ex-boyfriend. He liked to go play pool all the time at the bar. So I figured that if I bought the pool table he might would stay home and play it. What I didn't know was he was going to the bars and picking up females and of course drinking as well. That is why he is now my ex. So now I am thinking "What the heck was I thinking?" I know now if he had cared anything about me, he would not have been going to the bars, playing pool & picking up females in the first place.

You MUST promise not to tell anyone! For some reason (can't remember why) I decided thong panties would be the answer to "creeping drawers" issue. All the ladies, you know what I am talking about.
Made sense at the time. Keep in mind, I am not petite. Well, went out and purchased several pair in different colors. Tried them out right way. I was right, they don't "creep". However, having a permanent wedgie is not a happy experience.
Do you think I could sell them on eBay??
Happy Holidays y'all!

A string hammock on Cancun some years ago. I had nothing to hang it from (still haven't) and it has hung around in the shed getting mildewy and tangled. It is now no longer functional even if I did have somewhere to put it., and the darn thing wasn't cheap.

I am forever buying just that " perfect" painting, or lamp because I just KNOW they will look perfect in my ....one of my rooms. Now, I have several of the above in my guest bedroom and give them away to my kids and grandkids all of the time. By the way, it seems when I get home with them that they NEVER go with anything. Yet I continue trying. I need to quit it. Great question Wickwire.
