Yes this is serious. Blood in the stool can be a sign of cancer. It may just be hemorrhoids or polyps or a fissure but not matter what it means he is bleeding some where and needs to see a doc ASAP. He should call his clinic today and ask to speak to the doc that is on call for his regular doc and ask him about all of this and whether he should stop the plavix or not until he can be seen by his doc. Get off the computer and have him call his clinic right away.

Blood in the stool is not good. Blood in the stool while taking plavix? The Plavix is a blood thinner and will cause the blood to not clot. Like, if he cuts himself, it will be much harder to stop the bleeding. If your bf has bleeding internally or in the intestine, he is apt to just keep bleeding. TAKE HIM TO A DOCTOR, ASAP.

Loose stools could be caused by his diet, some of his other medications or he could have a bowel problem which might need some medication. Only his doctor can determine this. Probably NOT his blood thinners.

It depends on how much bood. If it looks like somebody used a red marker on the toilet paper, then it's probably an anal fissure. If it doesn't hurt, that's nothing to worry about. If the blood is dark, that's bad -- call the doctor and report it ASAP. If the blood is bright red and it's enough to turn the water pink, then that is also cause for alarm. It could be a large hemorrhoid, or, much worse, it could be ulcerative colitis or even cancer. Again, call the doctor. Insist that he be seen within the week. This is nothing to treat lightly.
Good luck.

Is it bright red blood? Or dark? That makes a difference as to where it is coming from. If it is bright red, it is likely from the anus...as in tearing. Small tears caused from straining might bleed more because of the blood thinners. If the blood is dark red, it could be from somewhere in the digestive tract...stomach, intestine, etc. and should be evaluated.
