My father-in-law used to design cell phone circuitry for Nokia and he was a vice president there until they closed their operations in California. He told me that Verizon has the best network coverage overall and that Cingular/AT&T was a close second. I've never used Verizon, but I am very happy with Cingular. I've used Spring and Nextel and was not happy with their coverage.
You have to also consider features. If you are a fan of the iPhone, Cingular/AT&T is your only option. The last time I checked, Cingular/AT&T was the only carrier to offer rollover minutes. I've got free nights & weekends as well as free calls to any other Cingular/AT&T user. Some for my money, I am very happy with AT&T and my Samsung Blackjack.

Technically, signal wise, Verizon is the best. However, AT&T and T-Mobile can be just as good if you have a good enough phone. What you pay extra for the high quality phone, you save on the high monthly rates of Verizon. Plus, you get a nicer phone. Good luck choosing.

i think it depends alot on where you live and how many towers that provider has. I live in the mountains in NC and there are still alot that dont have enough towers around here so you lose service lots of places. My work cell is US Cellular and I just got my hubby a phone for Christmas and it is Verizon and they both work great around here but I have had people tell me Suncom is terrible around here

There is no best cell phone provider only what you prefer, so it's what best suits you that is the best cell phone provider.

lol I'm with the first person! I have Sprint and I signed a contract so I still have until August and they are NOT the best! Were shopping for the best too! But I think it depends on your area and the amount of towers that are available to you!
