1. Chicana / Mexican-American
2. My financial life would change for the better if I were white/caucausian. I went to a private college (very competitive) for 1 year, but quit going there because people were very ignorant of my race, excluded me based on my race, and made very rude comments on a daily basis. I never before in my life have felt so horrible or so aware of being Latina as I did at that time. I have since transferred to a lower tiered school because I am far more comfortable here. I am not segregated based on my race.
If I were white (I don't wish to be so) I believe I would have had a better time at college and would have been able to assimilate better. I don't wish to change who I am. I do wish to change the way other people view different races.
I believe that the higher education system is not non-caucasian friendly.
P.S. I think it's funny that all the white people say that their financial life wouldn't change if they were a different race. They obviously don't know.
You should read "Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack of White Privilege" by Peggy McIntosh (Who is a white professor at a prestigious college)
Good luck !

1 when a teacher has a "favorite" student do you feel left out? how does it make you feel? I go to college and have had a couple of professors that pick out favorites in the class. They are usually the smart kids and that is not me. It doesn't bother me, unless they are rude to me when I go to ask for help. I feel that they should treat everyone equal. 2 do you feel you dont get the best education as possible? I do feel like I am not getting the best education. One of my calculus teachers will skip major sections saying "oh, you already know that from a previous calculus class." Well, it is always good to review something in my opinion and the professor shouldn't assume that everyone knows everything. I have even discussed with her in private that I am not getting all the concepts and she suggested getting a tutor and she wasn't going to go over "that stuff" again. Well, isn't that her job? 3 do you ever do anything when a teacher has a favorite? tell a parent other teacher etc? why or why not? I complain to my mom or friends but there is really no one to tell really. I don't want to professor finding out that I complained about them. 4 do you stop raising you hand and participating because you feel the teacher will not call on you they will only care about their favorite? I don't raise my hand in class at all. I feel stupid, so I will go to office hours and ask them.

I'm white. I don't think my financial life would change because I am the architect of my own destiny, not anybody else. Does not matter what race I am. The only people that can help themselves, is themselves. Many people want the government to come in and mess with society, that just screws everybody up. To say that if I were black and therefore do not have as great an opportunity degrades both me and the person who says it.

1. white/Caucasian (I am Greek though so I get mistaken for middle eastern, Indian, Latina etc)
2. I live in CA in the bay area so I would say it would stay the same, HOWEVER when I travel(northern CA even which shocked me) I do notice that I get treated worse(like I said I do not look "white") especially when I am with my very very white fiance. So I would think I would make less money especially since I am treated much worse for not doing anything. I am very polite, smiley etc so idk. It shocked me because I was taught that YOUR DRIVE as a person was all that matters but when you get the stink eye, bad service at a restaurant, followed in stores etc etc you realize that racism is sadly alive and well. I also notice this when out with my oldest sister who does look white she gets treated nicer in certain areas.
Now the BIGGEST issue seems to no longer be about race overall in the US but money. Look at state colleges five years ago when my sister went it was 900 for a semester now it's 1,903....I mean it's getting RIDICULOUS and soon only the rich can go.

I am a white male, and probably the same, assuming my education opportunites pre-college were similar - had I been other than white I would still have gotten into college, but with more scholarship opportunities. And then as an engineer, I think I would be the same financially.
BUT, without an education, that changes immensely, and myu assumption of pre-college education is probably a poor one. Typically, I would probably be much worse off becasue of a poor pre-college education, then no college, and not as many opportunities.
This probably didn't help, did it.

1. white/caucasian...
2. I don't think my finacial life would change for the better if I was another race... I think everyone has the potential to work for what they want and take advantage of it... There are plenty of successful black, mexican, asian and people of other races out there... The opportunities are there, and everyone has them... And people need to stop complaining about minorities not getting as much as white people because minorities are able to get more financial aid in schools and there are more special programs and scholarships for minorities... And people can't argue with me there, because it's true... I knew an asian guy that went to my college at the same time as me, and he got about $2,000 more in financial aid than i did and he was still going off of his parents ginormous income!! and i was independent!! also, i knew a mexican girl that was getting DOUBLE what i was getting for financial aid and she was going part-time!! when my fiance went to college, his friend (asian) and him applied for financial aid, with both of their dad's making about $60,000 a year and their mom's not making anything, and they both had the same job, and his friend got almost double what he did...
I'm not trying to complain about minorities getting more financial aid here... I'm just trying to say that I hear a LOT of minorities say things like, "only white people get opportunities" which is NOT true... the opportunities are there for whoever wants to grab them and run with them!!! white or not!!

I am black and yes I think it would change, because I would be introduced to all of the sources "others" have such as friends that work at banks, loan offices or those that married into wealth. I am not predudice but your race does play a part in your financial stability. I would love to see how other people responded let me know how it goes!! Good Luck with your project!!!

1. Middle Eastern
2. It would change for the better if I were white. Lots of people these days are racist against Middle Eastern people, calling us 'terrorists'. My dads best friend actually got deported from here, they thought he was a threat to the society. He was a citizen of the US for 47 years, and he was very religious; he grew a beard and started spreading Islam in jails and prisons. The police got him and deported him. It was horrible...
