I am 31 weeks with a little girl and my husband and I are having a hard time finding the "right" name. My grandmothers name is Madeline pronounced (mad-a-lynn) his grandmothers middle name is Elizabeth. So my question is whick spelling variation do you like? I also just saw that someone spelled Elizabeth like ----> Alisabeth.... Do you like that? BTW the last name is Brink.

Madeline Elizabeth or Alisabeth
Madeleine Elizabeth or Alisabeth
Madelynn Elizabeth or Alisabeth

Kinda just want to see others peoples opinion. I am open to other ways of spelling the name.... There is just so many options:)

Thanks everyone!!!!!

I've never seen the spelling "Alisabeth". Interesting!
Another spelling to consider is "Elisabeth".

I like the Madelynn.

What will her initials be? ME or MA...what's the last initial?

Good luck and congrats!

I love Madeline either Madeline or Madeleine. Those two are the prettiest, most classic spellings in my opinion. Madelynn is just too trendy and takes away from the elegance of the original lol. For Elizabeth, my favorite spelling is actually Elisabeth, with an S. Alisabeth, like Madelynn, kind of makes the name too trendy and weird. Madeline Elisabeth Brink or Madeleine Elisabeth Brink are both gorgeous like that!!

Because the names are so traditional and all, I definitely wouldn't go crazy with the spellings. Otherwise, like I said, they lose their elegance and your daughter will just become lost as one in a crowd of five million Maddilyns and Alysabeths.

Good luck and congrats!!

PS I LOVE the nickname Maddie, but I also love the many nicknames Elisabeth provides (Ellie, Eli, Liz, Seth, Betsy, Bess), if you're open to that lol - Ellie Brink would be my favorite! Either way, it's still a nice name. Good luck!

Madeline or Madelyn or Madelynn - because of the way you are pronouncing it.
Madeleine or Madelaine are usually for the *mad-eh-line* or even *mad-eh-lane* pronunciation - though you can use the Madeline spelling for this pronunciation as well.

I personally prefer Elisabeth - this spelling gives you the option of Elly, Lisa (as opposed to Liz or Lizzie), Elise, Elisa (as opposed to Eliza), and Beth as nick names. I don't care for the spelling of Alisabeth, but that's just my personal preference.

No matter how you choose to spell, the name you have chosen is beautiful, very classic name.
Congratulations.

Madeleine Elizabeth. If you go with Alisabeth, you will always be correcting people on the spelling.

What a beautiful name! How soft and feminine! Great choice!
