It sounds as though you have reformatted your computer. If this is the case, any data you had stored in there is gone.
If your repaired your version of windows instead of putting on a new operating system, try typing what you are looking for into search all files and folder in the start menu.

hi chris
when you install a new copy of windows ,the old files if they are copied over are normallt saved in a folder called "windows.old"
this is only valid if you agreed to this during the windows installation however as you did it should be there
you should find it at the bottom of the "local disk c:",normally next to your current windows folder
if you do have a problem locating the folder just go to start>search>then type windows.old and this will locate the missing folder
any problems let me know
good luck chris !

I can't remember exactly where these files maybe as it's been a few years since i did anything like that.
You may find that they're in a folder in My documents, on the desktop or they're in a folder on C: drive unless you specified for the files to be copied elsewhere.

I'm thinking (if you completely re-installed) that you copied "files and settings" which is different from copying your data files ... unless you've backed up all your data before the rebuild (depending on how you went about it) you may have to say goodbye to all your data

You will have lost them unless you chose repair. Repair does not touch your files. I think you have just rebooted back to factory settings. They are gone. sorry
